Project Description: HB Fleming drove 340 piles 120 feet deep to conduct a static load test to 480 feet prior to installing a 340-foot-long permanent sheet pile bulkhead. We also installed six helical piles for a canopy structure.
Challenge: The project had an aggressive foundation schedule to avoid pouring concrete in winter. And the site presented difficult conditions for driving.
Solution: We used 70-foot-long steel to limit splicing on long piles and used an RSG to get through a layer of fill to install them.
